Haypatch
MP Haypatch Tiger- "Haypatch" is a 1999 Gray Stallion by PC Frenchmans Hayday and out of Rose Patch. We purchased "Haypatch" from Mel Potter as a yearling and Betty started riding him as a two year old. Betty put in all of the training on him as a barrel horse and a ranch horse. She started competing on him as a 5 year old, hauling him to futurities and jackpots around California. Haypatch was easy to haul, good to be around and tried his hardest every run. He placed at every futurity he ran at and won two of them. He helped Betty to win the 2004 American West California Open year end championship in his first year of competing. "Haypatch" tore his deep flexor tendon at the American West Futurity Finals in 2004. In 2005 to protect his injury, all mares were artificially insemenated. In 2006, he was able to live breed mares. "Haypatch's" colts have been outstanding to ride. They are easy to start, extremely athletic, and willing. The oldest colt is five and has been cowboyed on since he was three. He is a nice, well broke gelding. His four year olds include "Courtney", an outstanding barrel horse, "Beacon", Betty's futurity horse for next year and "Big Whiskey", a gelding owned by NFR Team Roper Cody Cowden. Cody say's that "Big Whiskey" is probably the nicest colt that he has ridden (which means a lot since Cody is the trainer of an AQHA Heel Horse of the Year in the PRCA). His colts are proving themselves and just need a little more time until they are known around the country. This year, three different NFR qualifiers bred mares to Haypatch, as well as other respected ropers and barrel racers. "Haypatch" consistently throws Palominos, Grays, and Buckskin babies!
