The Grohl Ranch is a working cattle ranch located east of Oakdale in the beautiful foothills of Jamestown. Our started two year olds all have been ridden out in fields, not just the arena. When our horses are three years old, most enter the ranch horse string. These horses get to ship cattle, brand calves and doctor cattle in the fields. This makes the horses much more broke and goes a long ways when your trying to make a finished performance horse.
The barrel racing horses are ridden by Betty, a very accomplished barrel racer. She has won the open finals title in the ACBRA, the open year-end title in the American West Association and placed at many rodeos. These titles go along with winning or placing at many different jackpots on the west coast. She does an outstanding job making barrel horses which is evident in her two current 4 year old horses "Courtney" and "Beacon".
The ranch and rope horses are ridden by Ron and Pat. The ranch horses are very experienced as they are branded and doctored on in the winter and shipped on in the spring. Our rope horse program is fairly young, but we have a couple of really good prospects. We have raised horses in the past that were won on at the PRCA, NIRA, and USTRC level. Pat is a former high school and college state champion that now wins and places at many PRCA rodeos, open ropings, and USTRC events across the western states and has also qualified for the California Circuit Finals of the PRCA many times. Ron used to rope calves and team rope at the PRCA and amatuer level and is now a great jackpot team roper when he actually finds time to leave the ranch!
The next time you are in the area, come look at horses, you won't regret it. Jamestown is located between Oakdale and Sonora, California. We are two hours north of Fresno, two hours south of Sacramento, and two hour east of the Bay Area. Give us a call, we would love to talk horses with you!
